What is Childhood Abuse
Child abuse is any intentional harm or mistreatment of a child under the age of 18. Childhood abuse includes any sexual, physical, emotional, medical abuse or neglect. The perpetrator of childhood abuse is typically an adult or an older child in which the perpetrator has more power than the child. Often times, the perpetrator is known and trusted to the child, whether it is a family member, friend, or community member. Often times, childhood abuse, is reoccurring.
Sexual child abuse is defined as defined as the use of a child to sexually stimulate or satisfy the sexual urges of the abuser (MOSAC).
Being abused as a child can lead to trauma either during childhood or later in life, and often has life-long implications for the survivor. We are here to support you in your journey to healing.
